With other pub and restaurant operators across the UK, they are bitterly disappointed that the Government has imposed ‘devasting’ Tier 2 restrictions across 99% of the country, despite the fact that PHE figures show pubs and restaurants are safer environments for socialising than homes. This week, Peter announced on BBC Breakfast that his company has invested over £250,000 in providing new levels of customer safety.

Oakman Inns’ Policy of “Safe Hospitality” Reaps Rewards in Higher Sales

The Oakman Group has issued a trading update for the 13 weeks.

In brief, The Oakman Group, which consists of Oakman Inns and Ashmore Inns, traded 40.6% higher at £15.1m sales with the four fledgling Ashmore Inns contributing £1.3m. Oakman Inns’ 24 pubs and restaurants showed a Like-for-Like increase of 25.4% , up £2.7m. Wet Sales were up 12.7% and Dry up 45.5% on Like-for-Like sales. Unsurprisingly, room sales across the estate were down 52.3%.

Tring Pub’s Popular Pizzas Raise Much Needed Funds During Lockdown for Local Hospice Charity

Despite the stress and strain of lockdown and furlough, with an uncertain future at both local and national level, local pub manager, Kate Smith, was not going to simply go home and wait for lockdown to end. Kate organised a team of Akeman volunteers to run a pizza takeaway service, selling their famous hand-crafted, wood-fired pizzas with all the profits going to local charity, Rennie Grove Hospice Care. The pizzas had to be pre-ordered and were only available Thursday – Saturday.
