Leaving things a little better than we found them for our neighbours, the environment, and our guests
The Oakman Kitchen Garden sprawls over 1.2 acres in the grounds of The Akeman Inn, Kingswood, near Aylesbury. We have created a new woodland margin with over 500 native trees, as well as planting of apple and damson orchards. Our planting beds include vegetables and salads, along with seasonal fruits. The main aim of our garden is to create a series of highly productive plots that will allow for rotational planting, propagation, and healthy, sustainable crops for The Akeman Inn to use in their daily specials.
Although currently the Kitchen Garden isn’t open fully to the public, in time we hope to create the opportunity to invite the local community down to enjoy the Kitchen Garden. With plans to create educational and fun learning for schools, and invite local volunteers down to enjoy the fruits of our labour.
