Heart of Oak
Heart of Oak is Oakman Inns’ company initiative to support charities and the local communities in which we operate. Throughout the year, Oakman’s venues get involved in fundraising for local charities by hosting coffee mornings, quiz nights and charity dinners and so much more. Over the years, team members have also undertaken numerous personal challenges including treks to Nepal, India, Peru and Little Tibet.
Below is a snapshot of charities we are currently supporting with various fundraising initiatives
PIZZA TAKEAWAY FUNDRAISING
Whilst our pubs were closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, teams of volunteers at two of our venues offered a pizza takeaway service to raise funds for local charities. The Akeman in Tring and The Cherry Tree in Olney opened their doors at weekends for customers to collect their pizza’s on Friday and Saturday evenings with all profits going to their selected charities.
Across the country charities are facing a serious funding crisis due to the pandemic as many events within their fundraising calendar have been cancelled and postponed and we are glad we can continue to support where we can during this difficult time.
The Akeman in Tring chose to support Rennie Grove Hospice Care who provide specialist care and support for adults and children with a life-limiting illness in Buckinghamshire and west Hertfordshire
In Olney, The Cherry Tree opted to donate their profits to Willen Hospice. Willen Hospice provide care to people in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas who are living with life limiting illnesses.
The Epilepsy Society
Each year, Oakman select a company charity to support through the dish donation scheme as well as events held by the pubs, and for this current year we are supporting The Epilepsy Society.
Since opening the doors to our first pub, The Akeman, in 2007, the Roasted Pork Belly has been a favourite on our menu. From every Pork Belly dish sold across the company, 25p is donated to a selected charity and over the years Oakman have donated thousands of pounds to great initiatives.
